yeah~~ i'm back with another food post.. it's been a while.. (^_^) this time.. i had buffet lunch (weekday) at Triple Three.. let's start the food journey bah~~

Sweet Corn Soup
dun be deceived by the normal appearance of the above labelled "Sweet Corn Soup"! it was cooked and filled with crab meat! not just only bits and pieces of real crab meat.. there were chunks and chunks of sweet tasty crab meat in that big silver pot.. u'll just have to be skilful and tactful when it comes to digging the good stuff~~

I FORGOT TO SNAP MY Pumpkin Soup!!! tsk! it was reaaaaaaaally creamy and thick - the way i like it to be.. nonetheless.. another pinch of salt could have added extra flavour and bring out the sweetness of the pumpkin..

Sushi + Sashimi
folks, you can totally skip the maki because of two reasons - ingredients are not exquisite enough to take up that limited space of your stomach, and it can be quite filling.. HOWEVER! please please try their sushi! they were prepared so professionally.. FIY: i picked up the sushi with my lousy chopsticks technique and turned the sushi upside down.. guess what! the prawn and salmon were firmly knitted to the rice.. OMG! yet the rice was still soft and separates when u put them in your mouth.. ~ so touching ~ next, the sashimi.. only two words - - - FRESH! Good! *salivating*

Tempura
if u are hoping for ebi tempura.. be ready for disappointment.. coz they only have Sweet Potato (as seen in photo above) and Swordfish Tempura (which i forgot to snap).. both are on unlimited supply coz the chef at that counter kept frying and frying.. so people who enjoys tempura can knock yourselves out..

Prawns
all buffet-goers know one golden rule - to make your deal worth, attack the seafood counter! hmmmm.. i saw prawns, oysters, errrr... more.. prawns and oysters. . . . . WHERE'S MY CRAB? LOBSTERS? OR MAYBE BABY LOBSTERS? EVEN CRAYFISH????? *angry face* why??? really.. srsly! why? though the plus-sized juicy cold prawns did comforted my broken heart a lil bit.. but i can't help but to question it over and over again.. what's with that ridiculous limited selection of seafood?!

Fried Squid + Tori Karaage + Veal Sausage
Surprise Surprise~ what a nice surprise! the fried squid is so crispy on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside!!!!! okay.. there were two squid dishes.. one is the delicious fried ones.. the other is the stir-fry ones - which were super rubbery and tasteless *bleh*.. so just stick to the fried ones k! next, the tori karaage were okay - at least not dry and really got meat one lor.. well.. the sausage was a big fail to me.. not nice.. i frowned when i took a bite lehz.. it was slightly heated up and served only.. do i need a chef for that?

XO Sauce Fried Rice
LG lor.. looks good.. but *sigh* not even pass the golden standard of the definition of fried rice.. the fried rice dun have 锅气! literally means the fragrance of the wok.. -in short: bad. small fail. can skip.-

however, pls pls pls (even if there is a queue) try their pasta! the chef was super generous with the toppings and sauce and the pasta.. it was nice! the pasta was about 80% cooked.. just nice.. with huge scoop of toppings (choice of beef/seafood).. and u might have realised i dun have that photo coz i was so captivated that i forgot to snap! (>_<)

Lamb Chop with Potato
soft, tender, juicy, tasty, delicious lamb chop.. hmmmm.. it was so well-marinated that u won't even have the feeling that u are eating mutton wor.. heehee.. but pls dun be kiasu like me and take the potatoes.. i think they were just for display.. wahahahaa.. kidding.. it was on the big label.. so i guess they were part of the dish.. but they were really awful! to the extent that i swallowed the first bite with gulps of water..

Teppanyaki Beef
at first when i saw the bloody water coming out of the beef, i though they were too raw and.. well bloody.. but but but.. the beef was tender and just nice!! i could stuff the whole big slice of it and chew it well and swallow it.. those who eat beef must have the bad experience of unable to swallow one small bite of badly prepared beef and kept chewing.. but not this.. it's that good.. (^O^)

Roast Duck
really generous portion and the skin was still crispy.. however.. i thought it was too salty.. but if u are a carbo person.. pls eat this with white rice (available there)..

Dessert
Cakes + Puffs + Tarts were all above-average compared to other hotel buffet restaurants.. i meant all.. really all.. coz i tried almost all.. wahahahaaaa~~

oso u gotta have these sweet treats with a cup of coffee or tea right? (i forgot to snap again) i had cappuccino and it was good.. but i wanna point out that their coffee machine sucks! i think some bloggers had pointed this out already.. and it seems that they are still stuck with that faulty, malfunctioning coffee machine.. LOL..

the longan and sea coconut was not very popular wor.. because many ppl only take the ice-melted water on the surface with those floating longan and probably didnt realise got sea coconut.. see! buffet-goers are not lidat.. we dig out the good stuff! look at the longanssssss and sea coconut i dug up.. with sensible taste of sugar syrup..

finally.. my verdict: go only when there is one-for-one deal, or 50% off.. dun go bonkers and pay $70++ during festive seasons..

it has been a few years since i last visted the Singapore Zoo.. and my favourite attraction is still... (drum roll) THE MAGNIFICENT & BEAUTIFUL WHITE TIGERS!! namely, Winnie, Jippie, and Omar~

lemme share with u my 30 minutes with these three big cats during their feeding time..

(from left) Winnie was sleeping, Jippie was daydreaming while Omar was looking at us like we were his food..

Jippie then tried to sleep, with full understanding that she could not eat the whole lot of us who were right across her... but Omar on the other hand...

Omar kept on doing his catwalk.. pacing up and down while salivating, and glaring at us.. what the? we're the exhibits now? lol...

Jippie kept falling into and out of sleep.. she was disturbed by Omar's pacing..

Omar had woken up Winnie while Jippie was pacing around like Omar on the other side of their area..

Winnie woke up at a good time as it was getting close to feeding time~ after a good afternoon nap.. she provided great service by giving us great poses (by stretching her lazy bones).. heehee..

Winnie walked around and seemed to be finding a good spot to plunge into the water for a dip under such hot weather..

and just when Winnie was in the water.. she was staring at a particular direction.. and i really meant STARE! and it was because . . . . . .

Jippie was SHITTING! LOL!!! i really laughed out loud man! super funny.. and u can never guess what Winnie did next!! u thought she'd get out of the water? YOU ARE WRONG!

Winnie walked to the other end and closed her eyes... and...

Winnie turned and looked at Jippie.. unfortunately, Jippie was not quite done with her big business yet.. so...

Winnie continued her meditation.. wahahaaa.. you thought that's the end? well..

Winnie knew it was rude to stare or even to hurry her sister, Jippie, to finish her shit.. so Winnie took a PEEK! what a lady!

so just in case u were wondering what Omar was doing all the while when his sisters were stealing the show and getting all the shots..

well.. as unglam as Omar can be.. being the man and all.. Omar was . . .

Omar was smelling his armpits.. and..

i dunno how to describe this.. so the best i could come up with was - Omar was trying to clean his nostrils with his tongue while scratching his head with his right leg..

and finally 2.20pm! it was feeding time! food was here.. and look at them!

and they have good manners! they back-faced us while eating their fresh chicken ferociously...

Winnie, the lady, was waiting patiently for her turn to be fed.. while the other two siblings of hers were gobbling down their food...

at 2.30pm, feeding was finished and the zookeeper left.. Winnie then went to the shade.. however, there was one cat who was not satisfied...

poor Jippie!! well, the zookeeper would throw the chicken to them right? Jippie missed one of hers! and she was still looking earnestly for it.. FYI: Jippie had 6 pieces (excluding the one she missed), Omar had 5 pieces but Winnie only ate 3 pieces.. Winnie eats very slowly and delicately.. not like the other two who were not conscious of their image.. keke..

when i was about to leave.. i spotted this!

they were cleaning each other!! wow! i couldn't make out who they were though.. (PS: Omar was easy to identify but i might have mixed up Winnie and Jippie. =p)

i missed Sun and Rainbow for today.. but it's okay.. there's always another time.. (^O^)

the restaurant was 3/4 filled when it was 11.30am on a Sunday morning.. the decor was bling bling and the restaurant was quite spacious.. but clearly. it was under-staffed! the groggy floor manager kept scolding her staff in front of the customers.. so awful lorz.. no one complained anyway.. relaxed lahz..

let's do some savour some food with ur eyes! open your mouth big big and say ahhhh~~

on the whole.. it's the 2nd best Xin Wang outlet i've been to.. the best is still Ion's and the worst is still Cineleisure's.. MUST TRY: Bo Luo Bao!! very tasty~~ *droool~*

Hippopotamus Restaurant Grill (Marina Square)

the photos of this post were taken with my sister's new camera.. hmmm.. i'm more used to my camera so i'm not very satisfied with the pictures.. nonetheless.. my sis and i were very satisfied with the steaks at Hippopotamus Restaurant Grill..

of course.. be realistic with your expectations.. don't compare the steaks with those that cost more than 100 bucks in up-scale and high class restaurants..

considering the price range, i'd say Hippopotamus Restaurant Grill offers better steaks than Aston.. however, Aston has a better range in the choices of sides..

but i'll hold my reservations on commenting on how good or bad Hippopotamus Restaurant Grill is.. the restaurant is relatively new and i felt that it is not well-established yet.. the location is rather secluded at basement 1 of Marina Square..

when i was walking towards the restaurant, i thought it was empty.. but i realised the customers were all ushered to the back of the restaurant.. i just thought that they should fill up the seats at the entrance of the restaurant.. it's a psychological cum marketing technique.. by filling up the seats near the entrance create a false impression that the restaurant is popular and considering human's curiosity of "how could i miss this??!" will draw more customers.. rmb how we will queue in a queue even when we dunno what we are queueing for? it's the same logic..

anyway.. the staff were all courteous and knowledgeable.. very approachable.. pls don't hesitate to ask them if u have any questions! i'm not a pro when it comes to steak.. there are so many different parts of the cow where the steaks came from.. and i dunno which are what and what is where.. simply, i dunno what i'm eating.. but i know it's nice.. that's it.. haha~~

i like that they offer potato chips while u slowing decide what u want on the extensive menu of steaks.. but i really dunno how to appreciate the bread they provide after they took ur order.. if the bread hit the glass, the glass will shatter.. LOL..

let's get on with what my sis and i had.. ooops! sorry.. there'll be no explanation of the dishes coz i've forgotten what i had.. i know it's steak.. no worries.. i can assure u that the steaks at Hippopotamus are good and value for money.. XD

P.S.: they offer course meal but the main course (includes 3 sides) itself is very filling already! so if u go in pair, one course meal (main course with 3 sides plus appetiser and dessert) to share / two main courses would be enough..

i'm super super angry and sad at the same time when i saw this news.. STOP ANIMAL CRUELTY!! omg.. what were they thinking?! maybe they weren't thinking at all..

A man caught on video openly skinning a dog on the streets of Shanghai in broad daylight has sparked huge debate online.

The video show a Golden Retriever being hung by its neck on a pole, while the middle-aged man quickly peels off its fur.

When the man realised he was being filmed, he pulled his hoodie down low to conceal his face, reported Chinese news broadcaster Sina. The broadcaster noted his movements seems fluid and practiced.

Investigations by Sina found that the man and dog were not familiar to people living in the area.

While some Chinese netizens were furious, others defended the man.

Most felt such cruelty, though not illegal, was uncalled for and that it was embarrassing for China to be seen in this manner.

Others said this was no different from poultry and livestock being slaughtered for food, and pointed to China’s tradition of eating dogs.

10-year-old’s cover of Lady Gaga hit sweeps web

A 10-year-old girl’s cover of Lady Gaga’s hit song “Born This Way” is sweeping the web.

The little songstress, Maria Aragon, a Filipino living in Winnipeg, Canada posted her home-made version of the song last week.

The video immediately went viral, attracting almost 61,000 hits in a day.

As of Saturday 19 Feb, the video has attracted 2.9 million views.

The cover version earned praise from none other Lady Gaga herself, who reposted a link to Aragon’s video on her Twitter page and tweeted, “Can’t stop crying watching this. This is why I make music. She is the future.”

The little Maria said she liked the Lady Gaga song because of the message of self-confidence and appreciating one’s uniqueness.

“She doesn’t bother about hearing what everybody else thinks. She just does what she does and she’s successful with it,” said Maria of the fashion icon.

i had my dim sum lunch @ Imperial Treasure (ION Orchard) on the eve of CNY.. it was very crowded.. the patient queue of people lining outside the restaurant is such a common sight already.. first of all.. i'd like to compliment the staff for their ultra-good service and politeness.. this is, thus far, the most applaudable customer service of a dim sum restaurant i've encountered.. not only they were very courteous.. the staff were super efficient.. the food were served piping hot in less than 10 minutes.. they were observant to the tables of customers.. cleared the plates and refilled the tea readily..

okay.. now let's go on to the food~~

Century Egg with Pork Congee
Smooth congee with lotsa ingredients! the pork was well marinated.. could taste the sweetness of the meat and it was still tender.. good! the congee is different from that of Crystal Jade's.. this is at least a level better than CJ's.. i find CJ's congee too diluted.. and recently has became less tastier.. Imperial Treasure's congee is more fragrant and more worth the price.. (^O^)
Har Kau
the skin was not dry but it was slightly thicker than i expected.. but still acceptable.. the prawn was very Q.. springy and tasty BUT because of the thick skin.. the prawn's juiciness diminished alot.. nonetheless it's better than CJ's..
Siew Mai
well done! it's on par with CJ's Dining IN but i still prefer Old Hong Kong's Siew Mai.. the taste of the pork, prawn and mushroom blended nicely.. its really tender and juice spurts out when u bite it~ (>_<) sweet...
Yam Puff
i don't like this dish.. nothing against the restaurant.. just that Yam Puff was never on my dim sum list of faves.. i like yam!! but when it's mixed with mushroom and what's inside?! idk.. the taste that turns out from the whole combi really doesn't appeal to me.. so i gave mine to my mom.. haha~~
Deep-fried Prawn in Beancurd Skin
ahhhh~~ this is good!! good !! good! i wanna eat this again.. the outer is suuuuuuuper crispy! the prawns were springy and tasty! pls note that the beancurd was salty already so u don't need to dip the soy sauce provided..
Pan-fried Carrot Cake
disappointed! CJ's Dining IN and Old HK are the two places that serve the better carrot cakes.. this one is not fragrant! dry and bland.. sadzzzz..
Shrimp Rice Roll
the rice roll was too thick! another disappointed dish..
Char Siew Bao
wah! i was surprised.. not only they were generous with the char siew.. the char siew was very tasty and fragrant.. the bao was soft and fluffy.. though it was left on the table very long but it was still springy.. good!
Steam Custard Bun
MUST-EAT!!! this is much much better than CJ's!! omg.. i was shocked when the hot custard oozed out.. the fragrance just spreads through your mouth every bite u take.. this is very very good!!
Souffle Egg White Ball with Red Bean
MUST-TRY! i like this.. i can finish all 3! LOL~~ it's very nice.. the outer is fried egg white sprinkled with icing sugar.. it wasn't too sweet coz the red bean inside blended in just nice.. it's not all mushed up! u can still savour the soft red beans..definitely i'll be going back again! hahaaa~~

The Donut Factory (Velocity @ Novena Square)

after trying out almost all makan locations around the vicinity.. my colleagues and i decided to venture the lunch combo by The Donut Factory.. there are two combos available.. Combo A $7.90 ( 1 main + 1 soup/side + 1 drink ) and Combo B $6.50 ( 1 soup/side + 1 donut + 1 drink )..

i had combo A (meatball pasta + mushroom soup + soft drink)... the staff taking order at the counter was fast! she spoke fast, collect money and return change fast! the food was served rather fast, considering that the restaurant was full, my pasta came around 5 minutes wait.. yes! my pasta was served first.. then comes my soup..

the pasta was mildly warm.. spaghetti was overcooked! it was too soft.. the sauce was too bland and dry.. the meatballs had patches of burnt crisp on the outer.. total disappointment.. what's worst was that after all the overcooking.. it's not even WARM!! i like my food piping hot though~~

the mushroom soup - again.. not even to the extent of warm.. it was watery/diluted.. the diced mushroom showed that it was not blended well enough.. it was close to tasteless.. pepper n salt won't help! haha~~ moreover.. they ONLY had one bottle of pepper and one bottle of salt at the common counter to pick up your sauces, condiments, cutleries..etc..

NONE OF THE FIVE OF US FINISHED OUR FOOD! just in case u were wonder how bad the food was.. one of my colleagues even felt like vomiting when she was having her Basil Chicken Rice.. it's THAT bad..

when we were halfway done with not wanting to continue eating.. finally the drinks came! woah! i wonder why it took sooooooo long for the dispenser to come out with 2 soft drinks.. hmmmm... well the drinks were the BEST! it didn't went wrong.. hahaha~~

it just amazes me how ready-to-cook food can go so wrong to that extent.. i doubt anything was prepared from scratch..

lesson learnt: eat donuts ONLY since they already said they were the donut FACTORY..

my mom came home this morning.. kept illustrating how she 'won' over an auntie by buying a very special & expensive prawn before her.. (=.=) okay.. my mom also very auntie lahz.. so the whole descriptive dialogues and enthusiatic speech was very interesting to me.. i LOL lorz.. anyway.. this is THE very special prawn.. it's very big with its purple-red legs..

Pu Tien Restaurant 莆田菜馆 (NEX Mall)

it was my mom's birthday so we went to Pu Tien to celebrate~ as many reviewers have mentioned, i was kinda disappointed as well to learn that they no longer serve buffet.. nonetheless.. the food is worth the visit and the $$$.. now let's cut the chase and go on to my food journey~~

Fried Noodle (Mee Sua) 妈祖面线
this is the best Mee Sua i've ever had so far.. no only the Mee Sua is super fragrant after absorbing the sweetness of the clams, scallops and prawns.. there's nuts that adds crunchiness into the soft Mee Sua.. also.. the seaweed is super crispy as if they were pan-fried.. even after u've left the dish that for a while.. unlike most of the mee sua that we had which absorbs the soup and becomes super soggy.. this Mee Sua @ Pu Tien does not! of course it absorbs the gravy/soup but it doesn't become mashy and soggy! woah~~ this is nice!

Bamboo Herbal Prawn 药膳竹筒虾
this is heavenly! the herbal taste is not those bitter kind.. it's sweet and very fragrant.. the bamboo, after being steamed, enhanced the aroma of this soup.. not only the soup was great till i licked to the very last drop.. the two BIG prawns are very smooth, sweet, fresh, Q and fused with the herbal fragrance of the soup..
-> MUST HAVE!!
Pu Tien Sweet & Sour Pork with Lychees 莆田荔枝肉
i know mixing lychees with sweet & sour pork is no longer novel.. but this one @ Pu Tien is really one of the best i've had! firstly, the sweet & sour pork is ENTIRELY cover with the thick and tangy sauce.. however, the outer of the pork remains crisp while the inner is super tender and juicy with the fragrance of lychees!! wonderful dish~~

Deep-fried Chicken with Garlic 脆皮蒜香鸡
i'm so glad the chicken wasn't dry and tough.. coz it sure looked like it would.. but i'm kinda disappointed with its boring and not-surprising taste.. it just taste like every other Deep-fried Chicken with Garlic that u can find in other similar chinese restaurants like Crystal Jade..
-> Can give it a miss. . .
Pomfret in Fermented Red Rice Wine 红糟鲳鱼
the fish was dry.. sliced toooooo thinly that i can't savour or even enjoy the sweetness of the fish.. as they were too thin so ultimately after all the frying.. the fish became super dry.. *sad*
-> Can we skip this?
Deep-fried Duck with Yam 芋香鸭
very very very very very very UNIQUE!! i'm a person who seldom eats duck coz i think there's a smell and i don't really like it.. but this is good! not only the duck meat is tender, soft, it is sweet too! the yam that wraps around the duck gave a very surprising good combination.. the yam is very fine and fragrant.. it is not too sweet so as not to overpower the taste of the duck (main).. the outer crust just perfects the dish.. the crust is not oily and not thick.. though i think there can still be improvement on the sauce.. as both duck and yam are considered sweet ingredients.. the sauce could be more tangy.. maybe could add like plum sauce or orange sauce?? i find the sauce they have a little too diluted.. nonetheless.. my mom and sis find this dish very good even without the sauce..
-> THUMBS UP!!

i enjoyed my first dining experience at Pu Tien.. the staff are very polite, attentive, well-equipped with knowledge they ought to abt the dishes and my mom likes that they are well-groomed.. looking neat and tidy also gives people the impression that the restaurant is hygienic and food is 'clean'.. most importantly.. the service is very prompt.. i waited only for abt 7 mins and within another 7 minutes i had all my dishes up.. so efficient! GOOD!!!

though i've had meals at Bugis Junction so many times.. this is my first visit at Wongkok Char Chan Teng.. hmmm first impression is really important.. and frankly speaking.. Wongkok didn't leave me a good impression on the staff and customer service.. the staff weren't being attentive enough.. not only me but other tables were waiting to be served or trying to get their attention.. besides.. a smile is FOC but worths more than monies.. why can't they just be polite and give a smile or even a WARM welcome.. u should pay attention to their COLD and monotone w.e.l.c.o.m.e... (=.=) well.. though i'm unhappy with the service and some of the staff.. the food left me a totally different impression..

i was overwhelmed by the menu.. it was a little messy.. and there're tooooo many choices for me to decide what i want to eat.. the appetizers were generally nice.. i couldn't rmb what the first 2 were called but the first one was really nice and refreshing.. the second one taste special.. new to me.. haha.. then my main was Chicken chop baked rice.. it's GOOD!! i'm a regular of Xin Wang.. and srsly.. the baked rice at Wongkok is better.. coz Xin Wang's baked rice is actually plain rice but Wongkok's one is sth like fried rice.. the rice itself: Wongkok wins.. but Xin Wang's chicken chop is bigger and taste better.. Wongkok's chicken chop is slightly less tastier.. Chicken chop: Xin Wang wins.. the cheese of Wongkok is slightly drier and less creamier than Xin Wang so it depends on individual's preference but for me.. Cheese: Xin Wang wins.. however.. price plays a part right?? if weighing all the pros and cons and in consideration that Wongkok is just a tiny bit cheaper.. i think Wongkok is worth trying but i'll continue my regular visits at Xin Wang.. haha~~

this is a belated post on my last visit to Carousel.. my mom, sis and i had lunch buffet on 28/11/2010 (Sunday).. if i rmb correctly.. i think it was my third visit.. anyway.. the food was fantalicious.. it is still no. 1 on my buffet list.. as a meat and seafood lover, the variety was to my liking and the quality of food is generally above average .. and has been consistently serving fresh and good food for at least the past 3 years..

FYI: for those who are new to Carousel, it's a halal buffet restaurant that offers international cuisine.. the wide variety includes sushi, sashimi, cold seafood - crayfish, prawn, salmon, mussel, scallop and etc, salad bar, chinese dishes, good western and chinese soups, dim sum, local delights such as laksa, big choc fondue mountain of fruits and mashmallows, multi-selection of pies, cakes and kuehs, many many many more...

i especially love the soft, tender and aromatic beef, mutton and chicken! i was hogging the seafood counter most of the time.. i cleared more or less 10 crayfish.. numerous prawns and mussels.. wahaha.. i finished almost 1/4 of the gigantic salmon they placed on the tray everytime i scroll by that counter..

the staff are very prompt and warm.. they clear plates when i just wanted them to.. very alert eh?! moreover, they always smile and treat us with utmost politeness.. great attitude!! and they try their best to take care of customer's needs and requests.. i saw two petite waitresses moving the super heavy tables as the customer request to re-arrange them.. the woman with 2 big and tall gentlemen stood by and watched with folded arms.. (*roll eyes) a little help would be nice..

oh! i love their birthday song!! haha~~ so nice of them to sing a birthday song for their customers.. i heard them sang thrice in 20 minutes..

back to the food.. i tried almost everything they had and lemme tell u.. that day was the day i ate the most in the whole year of 2010.. even though i was already full and i knew i was full.. the food was so good that i kept stuffing myself.. (*dangerous act!) anyway.. i enjoyed my every food experience at Carousel.. enjoy and salivate @ the tempting pictures..

(*Special note: i was later told by the staff that photography is prohibited.. and that i could only take with the food and not the food alone.. but i already finished taking them. so.. i can only offer my apologies..)

New Year's Day Dinner @ Barcelos (Square 2)

big BIG BIG thumbs up!! personally.. i think Barcelos serves better peri-peri chicken than the popular Nando's.. i've been to Nando's several times and had good reviews (#1,#2,#3) on them.. the Barcelos @ VivoCity as well as the branch @ Square 2, are always very quiet with no queue.. unlike Nando's that has the crowd and long queue.. BUT!! Barcelos serves better food~~ at least for me.. here's the rundown of what i had with my family..

my sis and i had free flow of soft drinks while my mom had Cappuccino.. i think i might have irritated the waitress who was so unwillingly to refill my glass for me.. she even placed the glass on the table so loudly.. and i agree with some reviews who said the waitress was 'expressionless'.. i was the one smiling and saying thank you.. who's the customer now?! oh! my mom said the Cappuccino was nice but just that it wasn't hot enough..

the Chicken Soup is very good!! the thickness is just nice and it was served piping hot.. unlike some restaurants' cream soups that are mild warm coz of the thickness.. well.. not only that it's tasty.. it was a real big portion! the down side is that.. there's not much of extras in the soup.. there're only few slices carrots and several bread crisps.. NO CHICKEN MEAT in the chicken soup?!?!? what a letdown. . . though the soup itself is undeniably delicious.. (>___<)

the Spicy Wedges is pretty normal.. i guess most wedges served in restaurants are frozen??? so not much to comment abt.. the only surprise i had was - the wedges were still crispy though it became cold..

this Sauteed Mushrooms & Potato is FANTASTIC!! the potatoes are really fragrant and the mushrooms were well-processed coz they don't have the foul smell of fungi.. not only the potatoes were soft.. they were really sweet.. *special tip: sprinkle some salt while u have this.. the salt will bring out the sweetness of the potatoes!!(^O^)

similar to my comments on wedges.. the Fries here is really NOT OILY! and like the wedges.. it's still nice even when they turned cold.. unlike Mcd's fries.. haha~~

and of course.. the main highlight: Peri Peri Chicken! it's really soft, tender and well-fused with the herbs.. we chose Very-Peri which is just nice for us.. coz Super-Peri would be so spicy that it numbs your taste buds which defeats the purpose of savouring the chicken! wonder why some boys behind our table kept commenting: "huh?! mild only ah? u not brave lah! eat must eat super hot one mah!" --- why must force someone to abide your gourmet theory?? anyway.. the chicken is definitely comparable to Nando's.. however.. what makes Barcelos better is the overall package.. the sides are of bigger portion and each side and even the chicken are all slightly better than Nando's.. hence.. it's Barcelos' victory!! wahahahaaa~~
we had a full chicken and shared amongst 3 of us.. srsly.. when they say the full chicken with 4 sides are recommended for family of 4.. i highly doubt that.. my mom, sis and i could finish everything inclusive of an additional side (plain rice for my mom).. and we even had so many sides that are carbohydrates!!

Barcelos is definitely worth second and third visits.. haha~~ i might try the outlet at VivoCity next time.. heehee~~

there's so much truth about this.. and i've mentioned this like so many times.. but i really really really love and cherish my BFFs.. i've been moving from places to places thru stages of life.. from poly to uni then now working environment.. my BFFs are still there for me and with me.. no matter what happens, no matter what time of the day, no matter how trival the matter may be.. they will always share my joy, happy moments, worries and anxiety.. not only they are very encouraging.. they are also very reliable, dependable and wise gals! at times of difficulties, i can always seek for their help with no worries.. when facing difficult choices, i can always consult them for advice.. just like back when my professor told us to intro something special abt ourselves.. i said "i have very good friends".. which actually are treasures that are hard to find..

i have met ppl who have lived their lives for decades with no BFFs.. i have also met ppl who have spent their lives living each day and working hard in their career and falling in and out of love but not having trustable friends to rely or at least someone they can totally believe in.. i have.. and more than one of them..

okay i've side-tracked a bit.. so what triggered this post?

i was being asked by questions pertaining to my personal life.. so when i come to think of it.. my friends and i are same-same-but-different.. here's the break-down but not exhaustive list of similarities..

Sun: both of us are passionate abt toys, no chemistry but in sync with each other.. srsly.. we got no 默契 one.. haha! we're quite of the opposites in characters but dunno why can get along so well.. even until now i still wonder why we're BFFs when i dislike her at the very beginning.. (*no worries, Sun knew it long ago and we've talked it out alrdy.. HAHA~~)
Rainbow: laugh real loud and enjoy the joy of laughing.. the most shocking thing - can dont talk for a long period of time yet the silence doesn't cause awkwardness.. phew!
Moon: both of us are gossip girls.. LOL.. shopaholics too.. we can talk and talk and talk... and talk for a looooong time.. haha.. from an array of topics.. entertainment, technology, current affairs, gossips, family, stupid jokes.. haha.. anything and everything.. oh! we love GOOD FOOD!
Star: certain similar components in personality due to the same horoscope.. so share some similar beliefs..

individually.. they are very different from each other.. yet when all of us come tgt.. we can get along real well! weird.. but that's how it is.. haha!

after another 365 days.. i'd like to thank God again for blessing me with my amazing BFFs.. and also express my utmost appreciation to my BFFs for EVERYTHING!! i love u all~~~ hugz & *muacks* (^________^)

a comeback after 8 years! omg~ A1 is back!! just finished listening to the album.. my memories are gushing out.. i was (*emphasize was) all crazy over them when i was a little girl.. haha~ hates to admit my age.. i still rmb that enthusiasiam i had when it comes to everything that regards to A1.. and how the presents fans gave them got heartlessly left behind in the hotel.. (T_T) but that's that.. they are back with one member missing.. Paul cited personal reasons and left the group in 2002 while setting up a new band on his own in 2005.. my guess is other 3 members are more knitted so.. oh well..

hmmm.. kinda reminds me of Take That's comeback album with a great hit single 'Patience'.. but A1's 'Waiting For Daylight' album doesn't really make an impression.. not that there're no nice songs.. pretty decent songs but not memorable.. most of all.. they aren't sounding and singing like the old boyish-cutie A1 anymore.. it's the mature and trying-hard-to-impress and catching-back-youth A1.. not impressive but applaudable for the great effort of composing all tracks on their own..

i've gotta admit.. they had the most frightening moment built up really well.. i was totally into the movie for the first 3/4.. however.. as the story unfolds and the "truth" was revealed.. i was very disappointed in how the twist changes the whole genre of the movie.. at this point, please re-read the previous sentence again.. and just in case u're puzzled which sentence i was talking abt.. the part where i mentioned.. "the twist changes the whole genre of the movie.." i was pretty sure i bought tickets for a horror movie and definitely mentally and physically prepared for a scary horror film.. BUT! guess what?! when the "truth" was revealed, there were audiences who were weeping and sniffing and clearing their noses.. OMG!! nope.. no tears at all for me.. i was utterly disappointed when the story twisted in a way that i never would have expected it to be.. oh gosh.. a horror film turned to a tragedy.. (>_<) gimme back my $6~

wait wait wait.. not all that bad.. i gotta norminate Little Yellow (小黄) for Best Acting Performance!! oh who's Little Yellow aka Xiao Huang?? it's the DOG u see on the movie poster above! FOUR FINGERS UP! i'm lifting my four fingers up for the BonChon Chicken from 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken.. literally only 4 fingers up for the crisp & taste BUT there's still room for improvements for these over-priced chicken meals..

how good is the BonChon Chicken?
Finger 1: it's super crispy even after 20 minutes (*my sister bought for it as dinner/supper for me)..
Finger 2: it's is an understatement if i say it's very tasty.. the tastiness is fused with strong spices.. hmmm.. it is so well-marinated that u might not be lickin' but eatin' your fingers too! LOL~~
Finger 3: the fries comes in generous portion and covered with lotsa spices.. thought u were full after finishing the big portion of chicken yet u'll be still stuffing fries into your mouth uncontrollably..
Finger 4: probably the reason why i couldn't stop munching and savouring the fries is because of this - the garlic sauce! awwwwr~ it's probably the best sauce that goes perfectly with anything! i can have it in my salad, chicken, noodles (*i'm serious..) and absolutely with fries!

BonChon Crispy Chicken Wings (Soy Garlic / Spicy)
my sister bought half of each flavour.. i like both! both have a tinge of sweetness.. soy garlic ones taste like teriyaki though.. as for the spicy ones, i thought it was pretty average..

Chicken Burger
the chicken is indeed huge! look how small the bun became.. haha~~ there's tomatoes, mushroom & lettuce inside.. beware if u're heading there with your date coz u wouldn't wanna your other half to see your HUGE mouth while having this..
i've had my meal at the restaurant once but they only have limited seating capacity.. though the common seating area have more tables but it's crowded most of the time.. unlike most fast-food restaurants which u get ur food at the counter within minutes.. at 4 Fingers, u gotta wait for a while.. but it's not like MOS Burger where the food gets delivered to u.. 4 Fingers issues a device with queue number.. it rings when your order is ready.. this kinda food pick-up service is very common in Japan.. (^__^)

if u've been there to watch the repeating video clips or read somewhere online.. it was claimed that 4 Fingers serves better chicken than KFC and Popeyes.. well~ in the aspects of tastiness.. i agree.. in the sense of crisp.. yes 4 Fingers does it better.. however.. with the labelled price.. 4 Fingers ought to do better! the chicken burger has only 1 or 2 slices of tomatoes and 4 to 5 pieces of mushrooms with 1 pathetic limping lettuce.. and due to lack of sauce.. the whole burger tasted dry.. (>_<) no wonder it's only 4 fingers~ keke~~ don't get me wrong.. i'll still visit 4 Fingers nonetheless coz BonChon Chicken is really nice!!

i've lost count of the number of times i've visited Astons Prime @ Centrepoint.. it's one of my mum's favourite place.. ironically.. though this outlet focuses on steak.. i've tried the steak here once and it's really not worth a try.. haha~~ hard to believe it eh?! anyway, my all-time-favourite item on the menu is actually Chicken Provencal.. i realised most bad reviews on this outlet are on their steaks.. as i said.. so ironic right?! coming back to what we had..

ieat Superburger
this is humongous!! there's a thick serving of rösti with a large & thick serving of beef patty.. that's not all!! they have slices of juicy and tasty bacon that makes u continue devouring the superrrb burger.. it is super filling.. my sis couldn't finish it even after giving me a big cut of it and sharing the rösti with my mum.. (*P.S.: take another closer look at my post icon picture! the burger on the tee~~)
Chicken Provencal
my mum and i each ordered a set of Chicken Provencal.. my mum had Straight Cut Fries & Potato Wedges for her sides.. while i had Cheezy Potato Skin and Hot Buttered Mushrooms.. as other reviews have suggested.. the wedges are nice.. i guessed they are frozen food.. so how bad can they be?! hur hur~~ i love my cheezy potato skin!! i think as long as u're a cheese-lover u'll love everything with cheese like moi.. LOL~~ i'm kinda disappointed with the mushrooms.. though i love mushrooms but these weren't served hot! so it kinda taste less delicious than it should have been.. okay~ the main highlight - the chicken.. is big, tender, juicy & COMPLETELY FUSED WITH SPICES!! i'm lovin' it~ esp. i have so much mushroom sauce to go with it.. wahahahaaa~~ i totally cleaned my plate.. i even finished the veggies that are beneath the chicken.. keke~

i first visited Rock & Ash three weeks ago and posted abt the ROCKIN' FRIES here.. this time my sis and i tried their set lunch combo~ we had Dory Fish Fillet Combo and Chicken Cutlet Combo with our choice of drink - Coke Light (*was craving for something gassy).. let's see the photos of what we had!

Dory Fish Fillet
MUST-TRY!! i exclaimed a big 'WOW' in my mind and out through my mouth filled with a big juicy piece of fish fillet.. the exterior is slightly crisp with a strong lemon-sweet sauce while the inside is soft and moist and FULL! u know how some other places serve dry and bland fish fillet.. but not Rock & Ash.. they serve good stuff here~ keke~~Chicken Cutlet
no eating of flour.. no soft disgusting non-crispy skin.. THIS IS THAT GOOD! besides its strong crispy armour.. the tender and juicy chicken meat is super yummilicious!! also.. the sauce is like a mixture of bbq sauce & ketchup.. verrrry well done! i like the coleslaw.. the cabbage is greener than those i had at other places.. too bad that the coleslaw was slightly too little for me to have the fourth mouthful of it..
not sure if it's because it was the first meal of the day for me at almost 2pm.. the portion doesn't seem enough for me.. nonetheless.. as u may have guessed.. i was filled up by the gassy soda drink & generous portion of fries.. haha~~

i was there for lunch with my family in celebration of my sister's upcoming birthday.. glad that they accepted my request and gave us a table with seaview facing RWS.. this is not my first visit to this restaurant.. it has a great ambience and very appropriate for family gathering coz the range of food caters to people of all ages.. typical chinese cantonese cuisine spread with small surprise here and there.. haha~~ i love surprises!

Seabass Fish Congee
looks plain but the congee was so nice that i forgot to put pepper in it! i'm a porridge-lover and has always been a fan of cantonese restaurants' congee.. this is up to my expectation! esp. the seabass fish's sweetness enhanced the whole savoury experience in my mouth~~

Har Gau
dry skin with bland prawn.. nothing more to comment..

Siew Mai
it's good but i've tasted better ones.. hurhur.. it could have been better if they had diced prawn so that it would have a better chew..

Steam Rice Roll with Shrimp
thick skin with shrimps-that-could-have-been-bigger.. haha.. this was the dish that struck me with the thought that i could have skipped the whole dim-sum menu.. LOL~~

Pan-fried Carrot Cake
aaaah~~ this is tasty.. the carrot cake is soft in the inside and lightly crisp on the outside.. i like the bits of sausage that is mixed inside coz it makes the dish much more fragrant..

Deep-fried Prawn Roll with Mango
it WAS my favorite dish during my first visit.. but this time i'm so disappointed with the super-thick exterior and minimal stuffings they have inside! i was literally chewing fried sesame with flour..

E-fu Noodle with Shrimp Roe
this is GOOD!! please take note that it's different from the Seafood E-fu Noodle that they have.. this is nicer! i tried the latter previously and i really think that this is better.. the sauce is fused with the sweetness of the shrimp roe and fragrance of mushrooms.. the essence of everything was absorbed by the noodles.. heavenly~~

Deep-fried Chicken with Shrimp Paste
you get what you pay for! this $2 per wing is worth what it cost.. i left it till the last thinking that it would be just another DF Chicken with Shrimp Paste.. but i was super wrong.. it was barely warm when i eat it and guess what?! the skin was still crispy.. even my mom who was a seat away could hear the crunchy sounds.. the chicken was still tender and juicy though i've left it on my plate for like 20 mins..

Prawn with Wasabi Salad Sauce
slightly disappointed.. this is nice but not great.. Txxg Lxk Restaurant serves better ones.. haha~~ though i must mentioned i like the idea of having eggplant tempura placed under each prawn..

BBQ Combination (Char Siew, Roasted Duck & Chicken)
NICE! if that word is too generic.. then simply.. MUST-TRY! haha~~ i love the sauces that comes with this dish.. u can have them with or without the sauces.. both taste good in its different way..

stumbled onto this petite cafe while exploring the underground that links various shopping malls like Marina Square, Raffles City Shopping Centre and Suntec City.. what attracted me was the FRIESSSS!! the thick, straight-cut fries~~ yeahhh~~

i chose Lemon Curd as i was craving for the sweet & salty stuff.. seeking for the citric-sour thrill! and yes! they got it! the sauce itself is thick.. don't worry.. the amount is more than enough.. as for the fries.. it depends on individuals.. if u're one of those who love the crisp and certain level of crunchiness in your fries.. rockin' fries may not be your kind of fries.. it's more of the soft yet stuffed with loads of potato.. big and thick.. ooooh~ it's yummilicious accompanied with the lemon curd sauce!

Universal Studio Singapore (After Hours - Fireworks)

ladies & gentleman.. please bring along ear plugs and sunglasses or goggles when u watch the special fireworks @ USS (on fridays and saturdays).. first of all.. it's super LOUD as if i'm in a the middle of a battlefield with both sides exchanging fires.. shots were fired and canons were bombing from left and right then right and left.. Rainbow kept squealing every time the fireworks sent out a loud thundering sound..

next of all.. as the fireworks was just in front and up above u.. it was super sparkling and bright that it was blinding me.. oso! rmb that i mentioned it was right above our heads.. ashes were falling down.. thankfully the wind blew it to the audience on the left side.. so grab sunglasses or goggles, take your pick! wear both if u can.. haha~~

though the fireworks was the main highlights of the after hours ticket that cost $5.. night @ USS is an alternate way of enjoying the theme park.. rides were not operating but there's lesser crowd and the park looks more realistic at night.. the glowing neon lights enhanced the USA-looking movie sites..

look at Sun who has just moved to NYC.. LOL~~ looks real..

and of course.. how would i go home empty-handed?! a magnet photo frame for our (Sun, Rainbow and moi) Madagascar picture...

Candylicious @ Resorts World Singapore

Sun, Rainbow & I were finaaaaaally able to explore this all-so-sweetly-famous Candylicious!! we were there last month on its opening day but all we did was taking photos of the delicious-looking exterior and super-funny mascots.. this time.. we spent our own SWEET time to slowly savour and lick through the entire premise of Candylicious~~ but before any action taken prior entering the shop.. we had to and uncontrollably had to... take photossss~~~

aren't those placed for photography??? look at them! they are literally muttering.. "come.. take photos with us.. come.."

as expected.. Fernando Alonso won his second Singapore GP, which lifted him into a challenging second place, but Mark Webber still stays on top of the F1 world championship standings.. Sebastian Vettel was really close and was edging Alonso in the final two laps.. the next race will be in Japan on October 10..

i'm really not qualified to be a spectator.. the racing car sounds are deafening! i heard that die-hard fans find them stimulating.. though the sounds & vibration on the ground can be exciting.. hmmm.. still not good enough.. i prefer soccer still.. haha~~ i didn't watch the whole race for this year's F1.. coz my Iceman (*Kimi Räikkönen) is not on the track.. he was replaced by Alonso.. is Iceman leaving F1 for good? i dunno.. hopes not.. though he's now into rallying and he is still winning! omg.. Part 2 continuation from my previous post on the difficult missus that i'm working with/for..

what a way to start my day.. a supposedly elegant wealthy missus was yelling unsophisticatedly over the phone.. making accusations based on no evidence.. not even giving me any gaps to say anything.. had NO intentions of listening to any explanations.. just a phone call to vent her anger.. i should have looked up on counselling hotlines.. i think she needs help.. i feel so sorry for her that she don't even have the ability to manage her anger.. i wonder if she was able or could still process her thoughts normally..

my mom was with me when this difficult missus was making her soliloquy through the cell.. my mom commented that she was being 'naughty' on purpose.. trying to make things difficult for me.. in many ways.. yes.. her actions, demands and requests made her appeared bad in all perspectives..

however.. after calming down and seriously thought things over.. i have to be very truthful.. i don't hate her.. she's a person whom i'm working with/for.. so i have no intention of coming to like her.. after this bad and uncalled for confrontation she has given me.. i have no intention to continue working with/for her.. nonetheless.. i felt that she has insulted me as a person.. i've had good records from school to working society.. my previous teachers, professors and superiors/bosses had only compliments but no complaints or even slightest bad comments on me.. yet accusations coming from her.. someone who has spent less than 5 hours with me over 3 meetings in 8 weeks could make a list of accusations of me.. what a 'wow' moment was it for me.. my jaw dropped when i was hearing all those untrue assumptions she had..

she hung me up while i finally got the chance to say anything..

then.. her name appeared on my cell again.. it was her son, who graduated from either UK or Australia or USA - like i care?! he asked me abt the situation.. i told him but i really wonder if he understood.. he really doesn't sound like someone who graduated abroad.. most prob he only mixed around with asians like himself even though he's abroad..

10 mins later.. the difficult missus called again.. and this time.. AGAIN.. raising her voice sounding authoritative.. in my mind.. i was telling myself.. "fine.. fine.. fine.. just do anything you like.. whatever you want.. can i get ready for work now??"

well.. everything she said to me today just re-confirms my statements about her.. she really DOES ONLY care about herself and lives in her own world as if everything revolves only around her..

thank God that whatever happened with that difficult missus didn't cloud my day.. haha~~ i had an enjoyable time working for the rest of the day.. my two cute boys, JD & JS, cheered me up..

i can't wait to end this working r/s with her.. not because i don't like her but because i don't enjoy working with/for her - it's philosophical.. XD

as tasty as the food i had.. as bad as the service i received.. - upon entrance and exit, there's no welcome nor thank-you greetings.. so much of being a japanese restaurant.. don't even have the basic courtesy of greeting customers.. the waitress who took our orders was neither friendly nor warm.. in addition.. she didn't bother to repeat our orders or even ask if we would like to have ice water since we didn't order drinks.. the final blow - she missed one of our dessert when she key in the order!! we told her the number of the items and she took them down.. i saw that.. but only 4 items she can miss one already.. how busy was she?! not that the restaurant was packed.. there wasn't a queue to start off with.. okay.. enough of the bad service.. let's hop onto the photo journey to delicious food bahzzzz~~ XD

Chicken Katsu Toji Set
consist of a chicken katsu with egg + mushrooms on the hotplate.. nice! the outer of the chicken katsu was still crispy despite being submerged in the sauce & egg.. the tori karaage (*fried chicken) that comes as a side was juicy and not as oily as i thought it'd be.. the rice is my favourite! haha~~ not because it's especially nice.. just simply because i like japanese rice.. keke~~Macha (*Green Tea) Mixed Imo (*Yam)
besides the large serving of vanilla soft serve with green tea syrup, there's a fried sweet potato & fried yam with red bean paste.. this is one of the best dessert i've tried in a japanese restaurant..i would have had a better impression of MOF if they hadn't missed out another order - the MANGO ice cream!!! i wanted that~~ (>_<)

i am now!! as in RIGHT NOW! just got off the phone with that person.. u know the theory abt male versus female bosses?? to me.. no diff.. at the end of the day.. it all comes down to the personality.. i can seriously tell u it's better working with a bitchy person.. (=.=) this was what happened..

flash back to 2 weeks ago in a grand suite apartment.. this missus who eagerly wanted to make appointment with me.. to meet me on 13 Sep, Monday.. though it was a little early to be sure of anything.. i agreed and make that particular timeslot that she desired available..

as the date comes closer.. 5 days ago.. i sms-ed her to confirm the meeting on 13 Sep.. prior to the text messages, when we met.. i asked her how she checks her phone.. coz apparently everytime i call.. it was always her secretary - her daughter, who answered the calls.. so this missus told me that her daughter checks the phone and with affirmation that it includes the text messages.. k! she re-affirmed it.. yet.. no reply from her..

i was very busy to the extent that i subconsciously ignored everything that concerned about this missus..

a last minute appointment was made and i was 'reserved' by another 'more courteous & prettier' missus.. the timeslot clashed but because the 'difficult' missus had made an appt with me first.. so i sms-ed her again yesterday!

after waiting.. i called today! her daughter answered then passed the cell to the missus.. i asked her abt the messages.. she CLAIMED that she didn't see any.. okay.. then i asked her abt tomorrow (13 Sep).. she then let me know that she won't be able to make it.. as she has scheduled other appts.. WINZ!! no apologies.. for the record, she didn't forget the appt.. she even asked me to leave the things at the reception and meet her on Wednesday!!! i have other agendas too! she thinks my time not precious as hers???

*takes a deep breath* this is not the first time.. definitely not the second time.. she behaves as if the world revolves around her.. and she's always full of ~~crappy~~ excuses.. always waste my time by digressing and not listening.. making me repeat again and again.. though i just said the same thing less than 5 mins ago.. how i wish i could tell her straight into her face that she's definitely not the top 3 people that i give priority to.. wrt monetary terms..

fine.. it'd be the last time i gave her any priority..

Girl throws puppies into a river

The video was originally featured on YouTube, but has since been pulled because of its content. (*If the video above doesn't show, try here or here!) It appears to show a young girl with long blonde hair in a red hooded top picking up newborn puppies by the scruff of the neck and hurling them into a fast-flowing river. Some internet sites claim to have identified the girl as being from the town of Bugojno in Central Bosnia, which has an estimated population of 50,000. The river Vrbas flows through the town which is a favourite hunting spot with dense forest.

Several Facebook pages have been created dedicated to exposing the girl, who appears to be a teenager, including one called "Find the Girl Who Threw Puppies in River" that has attracted more than 1,200 friends.

"Find this girl and send her to prison for animal cruelty," Facebook user Jacqueline Wills wrote on the page.

"Throw her in the river!!!" wrote Dave Sherrid. (*LOL at this!)

if u watch close enough.. she was smiling while throwing the puppies that are whining in fear..

Heaven's Loft

Heaven's Loft could very well take the number one spot on my list of "best-not-to-try" restaurants.. not only the food was unexpectedly normal yet heavenly expensive.. yes! can u imagine $87 for 3 pax?! only 3 main course & 2 soft drinks!! (=_=) $4.90 for a soft drink.. almost $20-$27 for a main course.. i don't mind paying that kinda price if the food is worth that kinda money.. that's the most critical point that kills all my ~~possible~~ positive views on the restaurant..

there's a handful of good points like nice and artistic decor.. good variation of lightings.. there are dim lightings which are appropriate for couples while brighter ones for group & family gathering.. they also offer outside seating that has a great view of Orchard Road from eight storeys high..

don't kill me for the negative reviews.. ~~though i'm just one of the numerous negative reviews u can easily find online~~.. i'm just being honest.. firstly.. cold service crew.. not much of a welcome nor greeting us when we're leaving.. only one particular waiter in black polo shirt @ the counter said, "thank you. and..." i couldn't hear the rest as he has already turned his head towards his co-worker to continue his chat.. while others were idling and giving cold stares.. that's it! i'm done with this po.... WAIT! i'm not done with criticising the food.. as what i've said.. i pay for good food.. $4.90 for a bottle of root beer?! *faintsx1* but $20 for a chicken leg that is dry.. tough.. worse than the ready-cooked-food @ supermarket *faintsx2*.. the $20 chicken spagetti has slices of chicken that combined to less than the size of my palm, accompanied with gravy that has a bitter aftertaste that is not to my liking *faintsx3*.. srsly.. how much does 1/4 of a chicken cost?! finally the pizza.. --- scroll & see picturessss...

THE PIZZA SAVES THE DAY!! fortunately the hawaiian pizza (*safe choice, right?!) was edible.. not incredibly good.. but after the chicken leg & spagetti, i can tell u that at that moment the pizza tasted heavenly.. but definitely not worth $25.. did the prices sound okay to you.. yes of course the prices are okay.. but research a little and u will find people are complaining abt their pricey menu.. simply: the food ≠ the price.. honestly and let me say it so bluntly.. the taste of the food is only worth food court prices.. that's why ppl are making the price of food such a big deal when it comes to Heaven's Loft..

good thing i had vouchers with me.. if not.. (-.-) anyways.. my first ~~and maybe the last and only~~ visit has given me enough reasons not to dine in Heaven's Loft the second time.. i'd rather go Aston's that is just right across the street!!!

Recently, Britney Spears appeared as a Japanese bride on the September cover of Pop magazine. The cover is art directed by Takashi Murakami and shot by Todd Cole, and it’s very cartoon-pop painting style.

"I just saw the photos for the first time and they are beautiful," she Twittered. In the magazine, she says she's open to working with Lady Gaga.

"I'm a big fan of hers," she says. "Anything's possible!"

hmmm... for one second.. i thought it was a hoax.. no offense but it does look like some photo sticker taken years back.. nonetheless.. i think Britney was graceful in her take on Lady Gaga.. high EQ eh..

i didn't believe my eyes when i caught a second of the commercial on Singapore's TV Channel.. until i saw the product! OMG~ do u know how rare Faye takes up endorsements?? as for hair products.. after Pantene shampoo, which she endorsed years ago, this time she's the spokesperson for Royal Wind (追风).. i can't believe that this is in Singapore.. haha~~ though she's on concert tour in china.. i wonder if she'll stop by Singapore.. keeping my hopes up.. i wanna seat on the first few rows!!

Yayoi Kusama's work reflects the hallucinations she has endured since childhood which compel her to cover surfaces with polka dots and lines which she calls infinity nets. In 1973 Kusama voluntarily committed herself to a psychiatric hospital in Tokyo where she continues to live, whilst commuting to her studio, a short distance away.

Among her numerous awards and distinctions is the Praemium Imperiale, one of Japan’s most prestigious awards for internationally recognized artists, which she received in 2006, becoming the first Japanese woman to receive such a distinction. On the 12th Nov ember 2008 Christies New York sold one of her works for USD 5.1 million, a record for a living female artist at the time.

According to DMG Research, at the current rate, Singapore is already the second biggest casino market in Asia after Macau and is posed to overtake Las Vegas as the biggest casino market in the world, in two to three years’ time. on one hand, the casino builds up country funds, increases revenue in many ways that i'm too lazy to list here.. however.. the media seems to downplay the phenomenon of increasing individuals with gambling problem.. no sweat.. i'm not going into the psychological analysis abt the issue.. xp

just that sometimes the media amplify the glamourious and glorious achievements but hides or ignores the underlying growing problem..

btw.. Jay Chou lost $2 million @ MBS just days ago.. while Mr Henry Quek (chief of Far Ocean Sea Products) lost $26 million @ RWS over 3 days in June..

the money can be put into better use!! Haiti, Pakistan, China, India, Africa, Indonesia etc.. etc.. are they reading the news???

In this Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 a painting called 'Sailing on the Broads' by Kieron Williamson, an eight-year-old painting prodigy is seen displayed inan art gallery in Holt, Norfolk in England. He's Britain's most talked-about young artist. His paintings sell for thousands of dollars and there's a long waiting list for his eagerly anticipated new works.

expect nothing less if u're eating at Tung Lok Seafood.. they do have standards.. but bear in mind u have to pour in slightly more cash when u dine at Tung Lok compared to other similar Chinese restaurants.. though the prices of the dishes are quite steep but they are really nice! seated on 11th storey of Orchard Central.. u can even get a good view of Marina Bay Sands.. and accompanied by a big glass cage with 5-6 ~~living~~ lovebirds while u eat their relatives of the same family group - chicken.. yes.. like any other reviews u've came across on this particular outlet.. the restaurant is pretty quiet on weekdays.. but if u're gonna be there for dinner.. just to note that the crowd starts coming in from 7pm.. okay.. now going on to the fooood~~

the crispy yet not very oily exterior protected the creamy & sweetness of the prawns while keeping their springy chewiness.. good!!Deep-fried Prawns with Wasabi-mayo Sauce
one of the best i've had.. not only the prawns are huge! they're really fresh! they toned down the spiciness and choking flavor of the wasabi which was to me a minus point to this dish.. i like it hot! with strong wasabi.. isn't that the point of ordering this dish?! nonetheless.. i must compliment on the great presentation.. with big springy and tasty prawns..Crispy Fried Chicken (Half)
correct me if i'm wrong.. isn't the chicken a little too small?? (=.=) this chicken is as small as the $6 spring chicken (whole) u can find at coffeeshops.. though the standard of the chicken does differ.. i like crispy chicken skin and tender juicy chicken meat.. it's nice even aft it was left on the table for a while.. we were too busy with other dishes.. oh! love the prawn crackers~~Sauteed Chinese Spinach with Three Egg
woah~~ this is a challenging dish.. the spinach is still green and not overcooked coated with thick gravy that's was just nice.. the most impt highlights.. there're eggs, salted eggs and century eggs!! yet the tastes just blend in so well that i can drink the gravy! it's very difficult to prepare egg dishes without the smelly eggy taste..Coffee Pork Ribs with Almond Flakes
it's sweet~~ no bitter taste at all! wow.. how much sugar have they add?? the pork rib is really soft and the meat comes off the bone really easily.. proves that the chef control the fire really well.. the aromatic smell and taste of coffee were fused into the meat and bones of the pork ribs.. the only complaint i have, if i have to say, would be that it's too sweet..Poach Garoupa Fillet with Mushrooms & Fungus
how fresh is the fish? it was captured right in front of our eyes as the tank is just right there and slaughtered there and then.. it's that fresh.. okay.. set cruelty aside.. the fish is really sweet and soft.. u don't need to chew at all.. just using your tongue to press against the fillet is enough.. the gravy can keep me serving another bowl of rice to myself.. and.. i almost cleaned all the mushrooms.. wahaha~~Fruit Platter (On-the-house)
it would be another long post if i explained how i got this big plate of fruits FOC.. anyway.. their fruits are really chilled and freshly cut.. how to judge? check out the orange.. if it's cut and chilled, the orange would be dry.. however this is really juicy.. the coldness sent shivers down my spine.. they served 2 kinds of honeydew.. one of them is the more expensive one.. the orangy one that is.. yeah.. lesser right.. hur hur hur~~Pan-fried Red Bean Pancake with Banana

ahhh~~ this is heaven.. for those who love yam aka taro.. this is a must-have to end your meal.. creamy, thick, fragrant.. pretty much sums up this great dessert..Chilled Honeydew Sago Cream

that was the subject of an email i just received.. attached with a HD photo of a photogenic cosplayer.. sent by a very curious friend of mine who stumbled onto this picture when she was googling "Cloud Strife".. in the email.. with the photo and she wrote:

"oh my gawd! he's just so gorgeous...any idea who is he? is he that Gack or sth u showed me last time?? just thinking that u might know him...u anime savvy yea... don mind mi if u don knoe...so haws life?"

first thing first.. it's 'Gackt'.. missed that 't'.. and it's not Gackt.. and thanks for the compliment.. (^O^) i'm not that expert.. but i do know who this cosplayer is.. his name is Kaname.. i even visit his blog occasionally.. coz he is (i think) the best cosplayer i've ever seen! so sometimes i'll check out his cosplay updates.. to surprise u more.. i saw him real life too.. when he was here in Singapore last yr.. (^____^) and he dressed up as Cloud Strife too.. to further surprise u.. i even saw him getting interviewed.. thank goodness i understand what he said (in summary).. LOL~~ did i scare u?? keke~~ actually it just so happen that i know who he is.. he's kinda famous i think.. he caught my attention when i saw him last year.. just that and then.. and yes.. he's looks feminine and super lean.. amongst the pack of cosplayers.. he stood out with the best effort in his costumes, wig, make-up, accessories, and props!!

nonetheless.. i wanna share this news with u.. from the video.. it appeared that the owner was hitting the dog with a 'tool' that was claimed that won't hurt when she hits the dog.. from the woman's lecturing.. i assume the dog chewed on the cushion that she's holding on to.. okay.. i may misinterpret the situation.. but is it really necessary to be that harsh on that dog? from the whining.. i'm guessing the dog is still a pup??? and dogs chew! on almost anything they lay their eyes on.. unless u get the sony robotic dog.. (T_T) be a responsible owner.. love your dog..

hihi~ i'm here to post on SGF 2010.. as the daughter of a naturalist (*my mom).. i love nature too.. instead of indulging in the enjoyment of gardening.. i prefer snapping photos of beautiful greenery and landscape.. it's been 2 yrs since SGF has been held.. hmmm.. i was too fasinated by the marvelous work - Shangri-La, in SGF 2008.. this year.. though the flowers are still beautiful.. the creations of the landscapes and gardens are great too.. but i still love the concept and design of Shangri-La that was exhibited in 2008..

no wonder there's always a long queue outside the restaurant.. the CHICKEN is good! and we were labelled as "NOT SO BRAVE" as our choice for the level of spiciness was - Lemon & Herbs (lowest compared to Mild, Hot, Extra Hot).. unlike many reviews that mentioned about the bad service, i had quite a pleasant visit at the restaurant that evening.. we even had drinks on the house as we were asked to change tables.. not that we mind since we were asked politely by the manager who explained that the boss called-in and said that he/she will be coming.. so the big table will be reserved for the boss hence we have to move to another smaller table.. in addition to our drinks being FOC.. we had the soup+bread free.. and Sun the birthday girl got another drink on the house.. so nice of the manager.. as for the waiting time was acceptable.. it was approx 20-30 min wait but bear in mind that the restaurant was full and the queue never seemed to cease.. moreover the tastiness of their food is really worth the wait..

Star & Rainbow's drink.. i tried took a sip from Rainbow's glass.. sour as expected.. that's y i didn't order this.. but it's nice! just that i prefer something sweeter..

Rainbow & Hostel's order.. u can choose any 2 sides u want.. i think they had Old Style Chips (normal fries) and Grilled Vegetables.. i tried a bite.. woooh~~ it's good.. if u're a fan of flavourful spice.. this is the one for u.. great presentation! i love the weapon-like presentation where if u r unhappy with ur dining partner, u have a convenient tool hanging in front of u..
Peri Platter with 4 Sidelines
Star, Sun & I shared this one whole chicken! with our choice of sides - Medditerranean Rice, Peri Potato Salad, Peri Chips and Old Style Chips.. the chicken is super tender and juicy.. fused with the combination of lemon and herbs is just peri-fect! love it~ the potato salad is different from what i thought.. it has a tinge of lime/lemon flavour which serves a great choice as an appetizer.. the rice is okay.. but not my first choice for my next visit.. as for the chips.. hmmm.. i'm 50-50 on both coz the normal one will be a safe choice but too much of the peri chips puts me off.. i'd choose more salad next time.. heehee~~

You gotta watch out for those cookie-selling kiddies—they'll nab your money and your heart, as does this gleefully silly animated adventure. - E!Online.

it's a fun movie to watch.. it even takes u for a roller-coaster ride! really.. u even get to sit on the first car.. keke~ that's a segment of the movie.. anyway.. i think the movie was successful in making a villain into the hero of an animated comedy.. the credit goes to the 3 adorable girls especially Agnes.. she's such fun! and of course.. the most important supporting characters: the minions! my gosh~ they're so funny..

Supervillian becomes Superdad.. though there's an emotional arc but could've been better.. it was predictable and wasn't well built up.. i'd say it's good enough as an action with some vulgarity comedy for older children and adults like us who enjoy laughing..

i heard that the 3D was dim and 2D is more worth it.. so unless u have the extra dollars to spare, i'd recommend 2D.. check out the trailer~~

Happy Birthday Sun!!

Я§R celebrated Sun's birthday tgt! with a special guest (Rainbow's bf - Hostel) with us.. i srsly hope we didn't scare him.. haha~~ it was a good sign when it rained heavily on a great sunny day when I (Rain) was about to meet Sun in the morning for our 7-hr non-stop KTV session @ TopOne.. after singing our hearts and throats out.. we collected our tickets for "Despicable Me" @ Film Garde (iluma) before heading to meet Rainbow (& Hostel) @ Nando's (Bugis Junction).. though Star came a little late but we finally got to see her after such long time..

*Reviews on Nando's and "Despicable Me" will be on separate posts.

i love the moment when Sun was completely confused and shocked when the staff, whom sang the birthday song so loudly, presented the birthday cake in front of her.. Sun thought the birthday cake was for another table.. LOL~~ she pointed at herself and went, "me?!".. and the manager who was holding the cake went, "yes.. you.." LOL-moment! keke~~

luckily we got a photographer-of-the-day - Hostel.. haha~~ who appeared shy, quiet, and very scared of us.. i feel bad if we freaked him out.. coz we really talk a lot and laugh very loud..

after the movie.. Hostel even offered to send us home though Sun, Star & I stay on the opposite side of the island from him.. and the day ended with Sun & I who can't stop laughing.. as if we were on laughing gas.. keke~~

Spain wins World Cup 2010!!

Spain survived the brutal final against Netherlands to become champions of World Cup 2010. It was a very difficult match as the game stretched into extra time until Andres Iniesta buried a right-foot shot in the 116th minute. It was a rough final; this match was marred by a record 13 yellow cards and one red. Though Iniesta's 116th-minute strike appeared to be offside, English referee Howard Webb considered it a goal. Well, despite the distraught finish, there was some interesting action in the first 90 minutes. One that I was totally taken aback was - Gregory van der Wiel (NED) attempted to give the ball back (to Spain) in an act of sportsmanship. The full-back’s 60-meter punt bounced up and over Iker Casillas (ESP), forcing the startled goal-keeper to leap and tip it to safety.

Parts that I was unhappy with:
- I wasn't happy with the referee. He was inconsistent and always late with the fouls.
- Why was Fernando Torres only get to play in the 106th ET?! (*FYI: The goal was a cross from Torres to Fabregas to Iniesta! He should've played earlier and it might not have gone into ET.)
- Dutch could've displayed better sportsmanship.

Lastly, just to mention - the octopus was right! Haha~~ Spain is on top of the world!

Finally Graduated!

one of the most significant milestones in my life - i've finally graduated! with pride, i've received the summa cum laude honor.. though Sun was shocked to know that.. keke~~ apparently it slipped my mind to let Sun & Rainbow know abt me getting the highest honor..

besides it being a day when I was gleaming with pride (*fyi i worked my ass off to get good grades.. so it wasn't an easy feat to accomplish).. it was also a day to feel so much love from my family and friends.. i guess i was the one with the biggest crowd which i didn't expected so.. anyhow.. i didn't plan it out.. i just wanted those who i feel should be there to be there..

first of all.. my family - for being physically, mentally and financially supportive in my studies.. my mum, who selflessly accomodate to all my needs, is my SUPERMUM! my dad, who doesn't nag (*u'll come to find that it's a very good thing), quietly sneaks ard to find out what i need - for one, he bought me a new laptop.. a very good one still (*Sony VAIO).. my sis, who always has high expectations of me, has spent lotsa time listening me bit*hing abt the xxxxx and #^%!@*! after my every test and exam, i come home, my mum would ask "how was the test?" and if my answer is "very bad.. very difficult.." with no exception, she would always reply "nvm.. try harder next time.. u did your best.." but my sis would sometimes give me a hard hit on the head.. "aiya~ then how? how to get first-class honours?? how to win xxxxxx?!" my aunt who was always so caringly concern about me and my studies but less about my grades.. nonetheless.. i always get rewarded when i do very well.. see~ positive reinforcement!

next.. very important! my BFFssss!! Sun, Rainbow, Moon and Star!!! though Star couldn't be there today.. these are very very very important people in my life.. esp. throughout my exhausting study years.. hanging out with them from time to time really de-stress me from all the piled up frustration and pressure i received from the books, exams and .... let's just say - people..

(*with no special sequence intended..)
Sun - just like the warm and bright sun.. always cheers me up and make me LOL..
Star - always giving 'aggressive' advice which made me feel better by mentally playing the scenario out..
Rainbow - my great listener and always make herself available to help me..
Moon - an 'all-rounded' friend!! lol~~ tgt with Rainbow, both are my tutors for my Algebra which i never thought i'd pass that dreadful module..

i mentioned abt my bffs to my classmates before.. and i realised after hearing from what they told me.. i have really really good friends.. i thought everyone would have their good friends.. but no! after talking to my classmates.. i discovered i have very special, true good friends.. friends who are dependable, reliable, always there no matter when or what happens, unselfishly contributes and be there for you.. and not just being there but already geared up to do whatever they need to help me when i need them.. (*Oh! not to forget that they are all beautiful, adorable & intelligent) yes! my 4 bffs of life are all like what my classmates said - i have very good friends.. like when i invited them to my convocation, they could've simply decline coz they all have work but they specially took leave to attend the ceremony.. (*Star just started a new job so couldn't take leave but with intention to do it makes me very happy already~~) Hamtaro exclaimed with a 'WAH!' when she heard abt this.. truly touched and happy.. i would never forget that time when i was asked to share something very special abt myself in class with one sentence and i said "I have great friends." and it's true.. i really have great friends that i'm very grateful of.. (*Thank God!)

i'm now officially no longer under the category of student anymore.. however.. it's not the end but the beginning.. now i've got to put what i've learnt into practice.. and then learning continues..

whistle blown and it was 1-0 loss for Portugal against the hot favourite - Spain.. David Villa has did it again! he gave another good shot for Spain and Fernando Torres has yet to contribute any goals in the past games.. it was the most difficult game for me, aside from the game between Germany and England, i was cheering for both teams (*as i mentioned in my previous post).. the game could have ended 1-1 and go on to extra time and even PSO if Cristiano Ronaldo's 89th-minute goal had went in.. it was a desperate and scarce opportunity but worth a try.. HOWEVER the ball went slow and.. no goal.. (=.=) as disappointed as i am.. one couldn't help to put all your hopes on the highest-paid player in the world ($17.1 million a year) - CR.. to be very blunt.. CR really didn't do well..

reason why: it's just my wild guess.. but it seems that CR had not performed well in the World Cup games compared to when he was in Real Madrid.. it might be that his confidence level went down as the players' standards were significantly different.. he was playing with the few most top players when he was in Real Madrid but in the national team.. he had to depend on himself more than ever..

PLUS! he is not only the captain of the team.. he's the star.. and everybody's hope in the Portugal team.. he had THAT MUCH of stress on him.. so why blame him for the loss???

some other articles accused CR of spitting AT the camera.. (=.=) he wasn't spitting AT the camera.. he was spitting ON the ground.. it's such a common act u see players do on the field.. why make such a fuss over CR doing it?? oooorh! because he just lost the game and it so happened that the camera was at his face! (=.=)

CR may have been named world player of the year in the prime of his career at 25.. but he's just a human with two legs.. he can't be the savior and beat a strong team like Spain without a good team to support him.. (*Nani and Gomes were missing; Deco, Miguel and Ferreira weren't playing.. not like they can do wonders but i thought they could have provided better support esp. Gomes and Deco..)

am i saying the team players weren't giving enough support?? yes i am.. no matter which game CR was in.. he was always being marked and he had not enough support or whatsoever.. yes i may be biased.. don't forget i'm a big CR fan so forgive my biased complaints.. LOL~~

CR is a 'love-him-or-hate-him' player hence he has always been the target of the media.. like this very recent report about him saying "ask the coach" after Portugal's loss to Spain.. which made it seem like it was the coach's fault for their defeat.. but CR is innocent!! (*Read here!) he's already exhausted after the 90 minutes game and moreover he was dealing with the loss of the game.. and being that tired and that devastated.. would he be in the mood for interview?? that's why he said "ask the coach"! (=O=)

all in all.. i think CR did the best he could, given the time and resources (*his team-mates).. he's the best~~ (*alongside with my FT)

Portugal team has one of the strongest defense so it'll take a lot of effort for Spain to break through.. nonetheless.. always expect the unexpected.. who would've thought France and Italy would land the bottom of their groups.. so it might be a tight game that depends on penalty kicks in the end??? who knows?! but i'll be sitting on the fence, holding a 50-50 bet on both teams.. as my support and love are on CR & FT equally.. no matter what.. this will be the best game of 2010 FIFA World Cup for me!!

i can't comment on Mexico's game against Argentina coz i didn't watch.. but i'm very disturbed by the jaw-drop error committed by the referee on Lampard's goal.. srsly i was very upset over England's game against Germany.. though i'm a supporter of the Germany team.. i felt that it was outrageously unfair for the England team as Lampard's shot hit the bar but FELL ACROSS THE GOAL LINE!! the whole stadium saw that! even without the replay or slow motion.. it was clear that the ball was in the goal before it bounced back out again.. everyone exclaimed as the ball was really a goal! okay.. fine.. the goal wasn't awarded at that point of time.. but several minutes and even after half-time.. even after the whole game.. the goal wasn't awarded! [watch Lampard's disallowed goal!]

although Germany won easily and appeared that England has made the game too easy for Germany.. with Lampard, Gerrard, Henry, even Rooney.. England shouldn't have lost that badly.. the goal by Lampard could have made the game at that time 2-2 and probably rose England team's morale.. but because it did not.. the game remained 2-1 and Germany kept landing shots and corners which caused England team's morale to be very low.. the defense was down and field wide open for Muller to score 2 goals within less than 5 minutes in between them..

German players are really young this time with the youngest captain leading them.. but they are strong! real strong.. quite balanced on their attacks and defense so it would have been a better game (*i thought it would be a 3-2 loss for England) if not for the err that shouldn't have happened..

I speak like an electronic dictionary?!

i'll take that as a compliment... (=.=) someone was not sure of how to read certain words.. as i pronounced the word.. this 'gracious' person who appeared to be appreciated took out an electronic dictionary and sounded out the word.. for the first word.. she gave a 'confirmation' look - that i pronounced the word correctly.. the second and on were about the same reaction - "orh... ya you're right.." after checking my pronunciation against her electronic dictionary.. (*fyi: she turn the volume to the loudest)

then after the nth word.. she stopped checking her device.. her realization - "you speak like this (*the electronic dictionary).."

Grandma's 89th birthday~~

woohoo~~ my Grandma was very happy today.. though she was very reluctant to take photographs initially.. but wn i was focusing my camera.. she posed and smiled for every shot.. LOL~~ my Grandma has always been very 口是心非 (*literally = say one thing but mean another).. oh! the chocolate fudge cake is from Yamazaki Boulangerie Chaude.. it's nice.. rich choc but not too sweet.. very good!! it also has attractive presentation with shining sugar coating over the big and red strawberries too!!

and this is my chubby little cousin who kept demanding for a bigger piece~~ but was stopped by my aunt, her mum, who wants her to watch her ~~tummy~~ weight.. (*pls excuse her for being in her pjs~ keke~~)

Weird Encounter . . .

Rainbow & I were waiting for Sun @ City Square Mall.. we went to the restroom before we head to welcome Sun @ the entrance.. when we were leaving the restroom.. at the exit/entrance.. a guy walked in.. and right past us.. i meant literally walked in.. he walked in face-to-face with Rainbow and me.. then past a few ladies who were at the sink area.. and headed straight to the cubicles!!! Sun thought that he might be a she as in a lesbian or more specific, a butch.. but NO NO NO!! he's like in his 40s.. typical uncle-look.. in polo tee and berms and sandals.. while walking out to the mall.. i kept looking behind.. he did not come out!! he couldn't have been some maintenance person, he would made his presence known right?! if he walked in mistakenly.. he would've walked out long ago.. what was he thinking???

this new advertisement by MCYS has raised controversial views amongst netizens.. i was touched and was teary when i watched the ad for the first time.. but the second time got me thinking about the msg the ad was trying verrrrrry hard to bring across.. while surfing through the internet.. i came across a forum.. one post caught my attention.. and after deep thinking.. i agree to what was stated to a very large extent..

"The new tv advertisement to promote filial piety… has left me disturbed.

While some people may find it touching, the message of filial piety seems distorted to the point of emphasising the wrong values.

…By his actions, the father seems to be teaching his son that it is perfectly fine to disregard his wife’s feelings in favour of his mother. It also seems to suggest that it is acceptable for the elderly to create disharmony at home.

Then came the slogan, ‘How one generation loves, the next generation learns’. In this instance, the boy seems to be learning a lot of wrong values.

Shouldn’t the authorities have thought of a happier way to teach and instil filial piety – perhaps featuring a happy and well-adjusted family visiting the grandparents, and the parents explaining to their children why it is important to spend more time with the elderly to create precious memories for all?

Or, they could have altered the ad to show the father comforting his wife and acknowledging her feelings in a delicate situation – thereby setting a good example for his son.

Using an overly domineering grand- parent in an ad to promote filial piety does not send out the intended message. After all, is it not true that one has to show respect to earn respect?"

the previous MCYS ad on funeral was a great success.. but i can't say for sure about this fillial piety.. yes i agree with the ad that we have to treasure kinship and family.. by making it tragic and all does catch ppl's eyes and touch ppl's hearts.. but the stereotypical portrayals and hidden biased msgs are not very commendable..

2010 FIFA World Cup - Great Disappointment

what happened??? the world ranking no. 4 - Italy and no. 9 - France, which were the previous World Cup's champion and first runner-up respectively, are NOT in the final 16!! not only were they kicked out.. these 2 top seeding teams were at the BOTTOM of their respective groups.. (*big sigh)

France team's situation is kinda complicated.. though i'm very disappointed with their on-field performance.. but I agree with what Zinedine Zidane commented on the France team's conflict, “In a locker room a lot of things are said, but they should never come out.”

as for Italy.. i dunno.. i just thought it's such a disgrace for Fabio Cannavaro, the team captain who will retire after this World Cup, will get an earlier retirement.. i could still vividly rmb him holding the Cup in 2006's game tournament when Italy won the championship.. but now they are all packed and ready to go home with France..

What a 'Toy Story 3' day!!

one of the best sequel EVER! the entire film was so engaging.. maybe because i grew up with lotsa toys as well.. it was kinda emotional for me.. yes.. it was emotional - - - i cried.. (T_T) it reminded me of my toys when Andy gave Woody etc to Daisy.. (>_<) and that Woody wanna stay with the rest of the gang.. oh! mine are all still together~~ yeah~ i kept them tgt.. haha..

best newcomer: Ken!
he's farnie lorz.. i love the part when he screamed:

most creepy character: Big Baby!
omg.. reminds me of Chucky! its freaky real lorz.. even the voice acting was so hysterically-real.. is it appropriate for such horror-movie-character to appear in a Pixar production??

The Cast
Familiar face?? that would be our home-grown Singapore idol - Jonathan Leong.. he is "the boy" in this performance.. surprisingly.. Jon is up to the standard amongst this crowd of international professionals! he's the only one doing the singing that transits the story from stages to stages whilest other performers were more of circus atheletes.. Jon didn't sang off pitch nor did he made any blunder in the one and a half hour show.. he deserved the round of applause..

i dunno how to answer if people were to ask me what the performance was.. it's not exactly circus nor entirely musical.. there's even magic too.. it's a fusion of many different arts.. (*i'll label it as 'concert' though.. keke~~)

my favourite performer: Liina Aunola (Finland)
she is an amazing acrobat!! she really won unlimited applauses and my mouth was wide-opened from the start till the end of her performance.. she's really really really good!!

the most shocking performer: Alexey Goloborodko (Russia)
he is a contortionist (*Contortionism is an unusual form of physical display which involves the dramatic bending and flexing of the human body).. i was super shocked when he appeared in a small box! the box was only a little bigger that those A4 paper box.. scary..

Watch his performance 3 years ago when he was barely 13 years old..

my views: not that bad.. consider that it's the first theatrical circus-themed performance created in Singapore..

okay.. for those who are curious about the theatre's interior..

Benten Café (Iluma @ Bugis)

i admit it! i'm such a slowcoach.. Iluma was opened last year March and today was my first visit to this spacious shopping mall.. the ceilings are really high and the spacious and cooling environment make me feel comfortable.. the downside is that there're not many appealing shops that are worth for a shopping spree.. nonetheless.. the restaurants are quite worth a try.. the first one i targeted was Benten Café as i was attracted by the display models of big portion of food @ affordable price.. now let's check out what my sis and i had..

the restaurant is smaller than i expected.. maybe coz it's a 'café'?? not sure..Unagi with Egg Don ($10.80)
not bad worz.. quite filling though.. consider that i was totally famished with this as my first meal of the day at noon.. the sauce is not too saltish and still sticky.. which is nice.. egg, no matter what dish it appears in, just makes the dish complete.. keke~~ don't ask me abt the broccoli!Benten Combo($13.80)
Teriyaki Chicken: passable.. Hamburger Steak with Black Pepper Sauce: i don't like.. Sausage: cheat my feelings and $$$... Corn: forget it.. Fries: pls bring me to McD.. am i being clear and straight-fwd enough to tell you that this dish is such a big mistake??well the restaurant is still worth a second visit but gotta avoid those hot-plate dishes.. i think their pasta would be better..

after a full meal.. it's time to walk the calories off.. we explored the shopping mall and made many disco-veries (*my way of saying 'discoveries').. let me show you the spacious shopping mall first!doesn't this painting just stated my motto??! 吃喝玩乐~~great view eh~~ i quite like this shopping mall.. though it's not a place worth shopping around.. i'd definitely return to try out other restaurants.. Orchard Road FLOOD!! Not the first time...

did u happened to be in town, to be exact - Orchard Road, yesterday??
it's like Singapore experiencing a natural disaster.. we had a flood down at the most famous and popular tourist-attraction - Singapore's shopping district, Orchard Road!! the rainfall for just yesterday is almost 60% of the average amt we have in a year.. WoW! after i finished my morning job assignment at about 10am.. i had to travel down to Orchard Road for my next assignment.. but due to the 'RAINSTORM' and my sis also texted me about Orchard Road being flooded.. the assignment was cancelled.. i saved my trip but i never knew the flood was this bad until i saw the news.. along my way home.. yar~ there were some puddles of water here and there.. and maybe drain overflowing.. but the pictures of Orchard Road really shocked me!! let's look at them~~

On 16.06.2010...
this 'FLOOD' may be one of the important events that will be written down in Singapore's history! BUT! i never knew that yesterday's saga wasn't the first~~ k.. the thing is that many netizens commented that ION may be one of the cause and the upgrading of Orchard Road to be a modern shopping street was the main cause.. HAH HAH HAH!! no no no no!! this problem existed decades ago.. i really meant decades! i wonder if i was even born when the photos below were taken..

ION & the upgrading has nothing to do with it.. the draining problem existed like almost 20 years ago.. and no govt organization has been doing anything abt it.. i thought Singaporeans got this inborn ability to complain??? why nv complain about this since grandpa's years?? why must wait until rain big big.. hit the news and become headline.. people make a big fuss on online forums.. then govt sectors issue statement and start to do sth? haiz.. so throw face lehz.. Orchard Road u know.. one of the verrrrry few attractions Singapore have.. netizens may oso have to stop pushing the blame to the govt.. govt not almighty de.. like they can predict this will happen lidat.. my conclusion: my standpoint is that.. at least our govt responded immediately and at least Singaporeans are vigilant to talk about it.. can see that the 'heck-care' and apathetic attitude is decreasing.. which is a good phenomenon.. keke~~

yesterday was Jay's third day of his concert tour in Taiwan.. and the guest was -- Jolin! his allegedly former girlfriend.. it's been 6 years since they've performed tgt on stage.. back then Jay was the guest at Jolin's concert..

the performance of "給我一首歌的时间".. hmmm.. is there any underlying message behind the song they performed tgt??? Jolin appeared and sang: "你說我不該在這時候說了我愛妳，要怎麼證明我沒有說謊的力氣，請告訴我，暫停算不算放棄，我只有一天的回憶。" ... errr~ then they started dancing.. and Jolin's hands were all over him.. to be exact.. Jay's hands were over her but he didnt touch her.. but on the other hand.. Jolin was very touchy and seductive.. she kept giving out the sexy vibes.. even if Jay don't get it.. plssss.. we ALL got it..

gossip: according to the rep of Jolin.. Jay invited her 2 weeks before the concert and she agreed IMMEDIATELY (nv even confirm or check with the manager for her schedule)... they rehearsed twice only (waaah.. got 默契 ah~).. oso.. rumor has it that this is marketing strategy as Jay is promoting his 10-year anniversary album collection and Jolin will be releasing her new album next month.. - News source: TVBS News

my assumption: Jolin is very keen on getting back tgt but Jay.. hmmm.. he is still at the "unsure" stage.. as in.. he's still considering.. coz he has too many aspirations.. he wants to make movie.. get into Hollywood.. be even more famous and wealthier.. but i think Jolin just wanna settle down.. she worked so hard over the years was to spite Jay who broke off with her.. and another reason was to be on par with Jay so that if one day they can be tgt again.. she won't look bad beside him..

Pig Rabbit [SBS Drama: You're Beautiful]

in one of my previous posts, i mentioned about the Korean drama, "You're Beautiful".. recently.. Rainbow told me about the toy from this drama is being sold in Comic Connections.. the toy - "Pig Rabbit" is literally a rabbit with pig's nose.. in the drama, the male lead - Tae Kyung, made the toy for the female lead because he thinks that she's like a rabbit which seemed harmless and innocent yet could be unexpectedly dangerous (as he was bitten by a rabbit when he was young).. the pig nose originated from a pose that the female lead - Mi Nam, would do when her heart races whenever she's with Tae Kyung.

today i've finally seen the Pig Rabbit in 3D.. hmmm.. a little different from the drama's original and i was surprised by its range from size S - XXXL.. from handphone charm to hand-sized and all the way to stuffed toy size.. win lorzzz.. but the price is a bit steep for a toy of that quality.. if the price was lower i would be so sure of getting one..

Animal Abuse @ Bayshore Park Condominium

In June 2009, the SPCA was called to Bayshore Park Condominium. 19 stray cats had been poisoned, including the mother and kitten pictured above. SPCA was able to save 16 of the cats, and returned them to the condominium after sterilisation. The kitten in the picture, named ‘Hope’, was rehomed by the SPCA.

This is just one of the many cases of abuse and neglect that the SPCA has to deal with each year. Without donations from us, SPCA would not be able to continue their work and save defenceless creatures like Hope and her mother. ヾ(＠^▽^＠)ﾉ wahahaa~~ okay.. the title of this manga in English is "The Flower with the Knife".. a twisted story of a twisted girl with her twisted ideology of love for her art teacher.. warning: contains mature theme.. but no obscenity.. interesting development and kinda rare to have such twisted romance story..

actually.. it's been days since i've read a chapter of manga.. i was too occupied.. it's tough to get a job that i like and can be dedicated to it..
but currently i'm enjoying my part time job that allows flexible hours.. which is good.. and good $$$ too..

srsly.. they did a good job.. of course they can't dance well or even lip-sync correctly BUT they were entertaining! they made great effort in making similar video effects and the scenes and dance moves were almost in sync with the original video.. GOOD JOB! (^O^) LOVE: nice twist in making a undergrad-version with the gowns and all..

REAL Lambo!

short & sweet intro: "Lambo" is a character from the anime/manga series - Katekyō Hitman Reborn! Lambo dresses in a cow suit complete with a tail and has a huge afro with horns on the sides of his head.

For several consecutive weeks @ my church, there's a boy - who is one of the altar servers, has never fail to catch my attention. And because he's one of the altar servers, my eyes will automatically detect him when the priest is delivering his sermon. The reason why I was so distracted was because of his... HUGE AFRO!! Moreover, he was always in white due to service as an altar server. So somehow, he always remind me of "Lambo". Also, because the anime airs every week, this afro-head altar boy always remind me of the stupid, silly and LOL-things Lambo does. It's very distracting!! Coz when I was seriously listening to the priest's sermon, or doing serious reflection, or just plainly in a no-joke situation - it's mass, for goodness' sake, but this afro altar boy's mere appearance will make me wanna LOL. Recently, I've been paying so much attention on him that I start to think that he looks like a mobile microphone. *no disrespect or whatsoever* He grew taller, maybe??

Anywayz, check out this vid and see how funny Lambo is! And u'll understand my difficulties in holding back my laughter..

should i start with the good one or the bad one?? k.. let me talk abt the bad one first.. okay.. let me state that i'm a faithful and long-time fan of Kimura Takuya since i was 10 years old.. yes.. since i was 10 years old.. one of my inspirations in my passion and interest in japanese.. however.. this summer.. Kimura is back with a total flop.. the drama he is in, Tsuki no Koibito (月の恋人), has attracted high media attention.. not because the drama was outstanding, not because he did a great job.. but because the ratings in recent 3rd episode is this lowest in his career for the past 10 odd years!! 15%.. omg.. Kimura used to have 41% lorzzz.. then average 30%.. in recent years there's more and more competitiveness.. yet Kimura alone still could achieve more the 20%.. it became a legendary say that as long as there's Kimura in the drama.. the ratings will be above 20%.. true enough.. that legend lasted many years.. but thanks to "Tsuki no Koibito".. the ratings started out lower than expected.. then falling since ep 2..

the cast is okay.. in fact i'm familiar with all of them.. i watched dramas or films by them.. however.. truth to be told.. the story SUCKS!! i've watched all dramas by Kimura since i was 10.. ALL OF THEM since i was 10.. "Tsuki no Koibito" is by far, the most disappointing.. i stopped following up on this drama..

Unexpectedly... i made a great discovery! You're Beautiful (미남이시네요) - a manga-like storyline with interesting and funny characters and events.. srsly.. i enjoyed the whole 16 episodes... i finished the whole series in 4 days.. according to Rainbow who is currently watching after i recommended it to her, she said "You're Beautiful" is addictive!!

Synopsis: The management company of the idol group A.N.JELL insisted on adding a new singer to the group as the lead vocal, Tae Kyung's voice was hurting. However,the new member, Mi Nam, had to go to the States to repair a botched eye job just before signing the contract. His agent came up with the idea of having his twin sister, Mi Nyu,to stand in for him and pretend that she was her brother. The two of them grew up in an orphanage and Mi Nyu, who was all set to become a nun, agreed to this charade as she didn't want to spoil her brother's chance of fame which would make it easier to look for their mother. - Source: DramaWiki

favorite character is Jeremy - the blonde guy.. he's super dense, adorable, funny and entertaining.. haha~ i really enjoy every of his scenes in the drama..

Tae Kyung - the relaxed hair side-parting guy with gothic make-up, is my no. 2.. his character has this habit of pouting and moving his mouth in circles which i find it very fun when i do it while watching the drama.. LOL~ but i especially like his VOICE.. and the way he talks.. i can't believe he can be so gay in reality when he's so man in the drama.. i'm srs.. in person he's very 娘 de..

Shin Woo - the one with the guitar.. the character that i really can't stand.. he's a nice guy but useless lahz.. boring too.. no humor de..

the protagonist, Ko Mi Nam / Ko Mi Nyu, is cute lahz.. but she looks a bit fleshy ard the 3 skinny lead actors.. the new generation Korean male celebs are getting thinner.. Japan male celebs must watch out liaozz.. Korean guys are generally taller and better in built than Japanese guys..

in conclusion.. "You're Beautiful" is one of the most entertaining Kdrama i watched in recent years.. on par with "Brilliant Legacy"..

(^-^*) yes. . . i visited Ootoya AGAINzz!! it's my 3rd visit in 10 days.. (*ﾟ∀ﾟ) maybe they should offer loyalty card or something.. i would surely be qualified for it.. LOL~
(〃￣∇￣)ﾉ彡 anyway this time i was there with my sister again.. i guess the staff, Derrick, recognized us le.. coz our dessert was on the house! keke~~ so nice! okay.. now let's skip to the food part...

Pork Katsu with Miso Sauce Set
my set.. i still prefer the Breaded Pork Loin with Egg Set that i had on my first visit.. but this is above average too..

the pork katsu is thick & juicy.. it is crispy on the outside and tender on the insides.. unless u're a person who appreciates miso, the strong flavour may be unpleasantly saltish.. BUT!! the secret of making it tasty is on the next photograph..

i first tried the pork with miso alone and i could still accept the taste.. but when i coated the pork with miso with the egg.. fantastic!! the egg neutralized the saltiness and added another flavour to the pork.. entirely enhanced the whole dish!! thumbs UP!

this was what my sister had.. hmmm.. i'm quite disappointed with the fish lehz.. especially when i'm a person whose not good with dissection.. i'm really not good with eating fish with many bones.. i tried some and find it only passable..

A walk with Mika

Mika is SUPER SUPER SUPER CUTE!!! besides being an adorable princess, Mika is a very very spoilt and stubborn Golden Retriever~ today.. Sun, Rainbow and I went for a walk with Mika.. the glaring sun and humid weather took a toll on Mika's usual energetic and hyper self..

Mika was always craving for water.. *it was super hot!* Mika was always stopping for a short rest.. *it was super hot!* Mika has to be carried princess-style when she throws temper.. *it was super hot!* Mika refused to walk along roads with heavy traffic and we had to stand and wait.. *it was super hot!*

i really admire dog-owners.. esp. those with big dogs.. but a Golden Retriever lover like myself.. i can't bear to be angry and even slightly unhappy with Mika.. u see Mika's innocent and adorable smiling face.. u'll not even be particular with her anymore..

Mika's new tricks!! i treat Mika with her biscuits when she perform a trick! Mika so clever~~ yes.. it's natural coz she's Golden Retriever (Ranks No.4 in dog intelligence).. srsly.. i could do those all day.. tempting her with dog biscuits to enjoy her dog tricks.. keke~~

after a humid and wet walk.. wet coz we were moisturized by Mika's saliva and our perspiration.. we took a sun-tanning shower @ Sun's place.. no wonder Sun's name is Sun.. she really lives up to her name.. even her shower room is a sun-tanning spot!

get-together-time!! we had a private screening and talk in Sun's enclosed room.. it was gals' time~~ what an enjoyable day! had a fun time and thanks to Sun's mummy for the delicious homecooked meal~~

P.S.: too bad Star couldnt join us today.. (>_<)

hmmm.. taste okay lah.. but errr.. i can't taste the chicken and pork rib leh.. though there's one thing for sure.. the portion very BIG.. i can't finish lorz... i'll prefer not to add the fragrant oil pack provided.. just the soup packet is sufficient.. not bad but there are better ones.. nonetheless.. thanks to Moon for the omiyage (souvenir) from Taiwan~~
